Two students get 100% in recent computer test

18 Jan , 2017

We teach Saturday IT classes and two students who come to classes to learn more advanced Microsoft Office skills have achieved 100% in their recent test.

David put together the programme in 2016 after consultation with local businesses in Luang Prabang. The course focuses on Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and other topics such as anti-virus, safety and security.

Students come every Saturday and some students attend Monday to Friday throughout the week as well. They are very committed and eager to learn as nowhere else can they learn computing skills free of charge in Laung Prabang. It is a challenge for David to write the lessons and activities required for the 10 month programme but a large number of student benefit. next year close to 300 students will learn from this course when they graduate form the first year course.

Students can also borrow laptops to practice in their own time. Many of these are laptops donated by New Zealanders and brought in by David.

The course aims to up-skill students in computer skills which are for future education and gaining employment. more and more jobs require sound English and computing skills in Luang Prabang and other areas of Laos. If you are interested in assisting in classes, please get in touch.
