This past month helping Orphanages and School in Laos

21 Sep , 2016   Video

Time has passed quickly since late August when I stopped in Saigon, Vietnam. I joined Love Shines from Singapore on a mission to orphanages looking after youth with hydrocephalus, also called Water on the Brain. It causes enlargement of the head and is fatal. I visited two orphanages and we purchased supplies at local stores for these programmes.

I have spent the last two weeks in Luang Prabang, Laos registering and interviewing 250 potential students for a place to learn at the free school. We had to turn away many as we simply cannot take everyone. Classes started yesterday and computing classes start today. I am also very busy developing Saturday morning computer classes which begin on the 8th October.

With recent flooding, the river banks of the Nam Khan river have almost gone so we cannot use the boat and are having to hire a tuk-tuk to drive the long way to school until such a time as the land dries out and steps may be built, this seems unlikely.

The next two weekends we are going to assist local villages, one was badly flooded and their school is closed and the other has a hospital which we are assisting with medical supplies.

Here is a video showing my time in Saigon and Luang Prabang with a little taste of local food at the end.

Sadly the goods I shipped to Laos, have all been held at the moment by customs.
